From Vine to Wine

Bellingham Estate is unique in that it is one of the highest vineyards in the Mornington Peninsula – sitting at around 314m, approximately 1000ft above sea level, making it ideal for the production of Cool Climate Wines. Located in Arthur’s Seat, adjacent to Main Ridge, this 2.5 acre boutique vineyard was planted in 1996 exclusively for Pinot Noir. The fruit produced is both complex and flavoursome. It is dry grown and maintained lovingly by some of the best viticulturists in the area.

Meet Greg & Sarah

Seeking a sea-change in 2021 we relocated to the Mornington Peninsula from nearby Melbourne. City life no longer held the allure it once had and with our children ‘grown and flown’ we found ourselves wishing for a different point of view and looked to the nearby hills of the Peninsula to broaden our horizons.

Bellingham Estate is breathtakingly beautiful and although neither of us had any idea about the technicalities of owning a vineyard, we certainly knew we liked wine!!  So, the challenge was set, and we became the new custodians of this venerable site. Learning from incredibly knowledgeable and kind viticulturalists in the area, we have made our home amongst the vines producing some of the most delicious Pinot Noir on the Peninsula with their care, knowledge and support.

The Process

Hand-harvested grapes are destemmed into open fermentation vessels. Natural fermentation with wild yeast is followed by unsulphured indigenous malolactic fermentation in spring. Matured in 100% French oak barriques for 10 months, the wine is then racked and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
